If Trees Could Talk

I have always loved nature. When I was a little girl I would often be found in the forest just hanging out in some tree that I had climbed. I remember our church had this amazing large tree that I was in awe of. Man, I had wanted to climb that tree so badly. My mom had always dressed me in these cute little dresses. One day, I couldn’t stand it anymore. I just had to climb that tree! So after church I ran to that tree, climbed it as fast as I could and hung upside down. I had the best time of my life in that tree. That was until my mom and her friends came out looking for me. That was the last day I ever wore a dress to church again. LOL!

Growing up in Ohio it was always easy for me to get lost in the woods and just have some fun with the trees. They were my sanctuary. I could never truly understand why people would want to cut them down and build cities. Today, I express my love for trees and nature in my art. I was so humbled the other day when the International Art Biennale asked me to submit my work to their exhibit “If Trees Could Talk” postcard project. Wow! What an honor! I sent them my “Giving Tree” drawing via email and they accepted it to their collection. The little girl in me was jumping up and down with excitement.
